Linwood Sports Centre opened in 1974 and by 1976 Linwood Ladies formed. The club centred around filling the gap for school-leaving girls who had nowhere to continue their netball. Formal training was put in place despite no qualified coach and a committee was quickly formed to deal with organising registration to Renfrewshire District Netball.
At the same time similar netball clubs had been formed in the Inverclyde and Paisley area, and so the Renfrewshire League was born. Netball was highly popular and within a couple of years two Leagues were created, with Linwood now able to enter three teams into both Divisions. Linwood was always rated highly by other clubs, which was evident in the enthusiasm of all three teams.
Sadly, in 1998, the Renfrewshire League disbanded. Nevertheless, Linwood carried on as a recreational club to enable women to continue to play netball. The interest in playing competitively was still at the club and in 2002, with some new and equally enthusiastic players, Linwood was invited to enter a team in to the Lanarkshire League.
Linwood moved up to the first division at the end of that Season and after three years playing competitively in the Lanarkshire League, Linwood applied to the Glasgow League.
This application was accepted and Linwood started playing in the Glasgow League Division 3 from Season 2005/2006.
